Angry broke ear on 1995 Z28 LT1 crankshaft hub

Service garage in trying to remove the crankshaft hub to replace the seal, broke off one of the ears. Pulley came off OK. Hub was on so tight that heat was applied to hub and muscle to puller attached to hub ears. They claim that they were pushing on end of crank and not internals of hub. (?) When heating the hub and applying force to puller, it popped and ear broke, no movement of hub. Now need to get hub off with no additional damage. Already melted the vent nipple on Optispark cap. Will have to replace it. Saw the solution used back in 2005 and think it is too risky. Would like to clamp some thing to hub diameter hub behind the ears with it's own ears and try puller again. OR what ever else that might work. Help.

thats an interesting situation you are in... first of all there is no physical way to push on the crank without a bolt or something in the snout!!! not really sure how you would clamp something behind it without some serious manufacturing of something that bolted 2 halves together behind the hub ears

They need to weld the ear back on, remove it correctly (they weren't doing it right the first time ), then replace the hub and other parts they destroyed.

Ditto: Tell these idiots to rent or buy the correct hub installation/removal tool. "Kent Moore J-39046"
