I've been thinking about using the Brodix 18X heads for a conversion...... 18* head that uses 23* valvetrain and standard exhaust pattern. 245cc intake runners and flows over 320cfm right out of the box too. I've also been seeing 18Xs going for around $2200 a set new and assembled (valves, springs, retainers, etc).
I hear that CFM will do reverse cool work on genI heads to use on LT1s for about $400. Add one of the brodix intakes, some work so it can be used with EFI, and you're set to make well over 500rwhp NA i'm sure.
Just something to think about.

Yes I want to know info about the 1le panhard bar... does it work correctly for lowered cars? Sport line are my springs
email highlander@caribe.net
Fast Caddy, can you send me a link, number or info on "CFM"? I'm familiar w/ a local company called cfm, but they're a Ford outfitter.
As for he 1LE panhard, it won't correct for lowering, but is still better than just stock. When you lower the car, it can (and does) change the positioning of the rear end in reference to being spot-on center. The lower the car, the more agressive the problem. For your vehicle we would probably recommend the BMR adjustable or another adjustable panhard setup.

PM "KTamez" on this board... he sent me the info as he's already had a set of 18Xs converted to use on his LT1. Too bad he's selling the car since i was really wanting to see it perform.
Someone or some vendor needs to set up some kind of deal where reverse-cool converted gen1 heads and intakes are bolt-on ready for the LT1s. Particularly ones like the 18X. I swear that would be one hell of a market. But it seems like no one out there is willing to do it.
Hell, why buy an LS1 or whatever over the LT1 when you can get the LT1 for lots less and have heads superior to theirs ready to bolt on? You can spend $3000 or whatever in heads/cam and maybe get 400rwhp. Spend a little more and get these heads and make a LOT more power and still have room to grow in the future for boost, juice, or stroker with more potential. AFR's are close to $2k alone, these are just a tad more. Once you factor in the intakes and work and the massive potential, these will walk off and leave any head currently available to the LT1 in the dust. And why stop with the 18Xs? Go farther with heads from DART, WP, Pro action, etc....
Ok, done ranting

I'll have to investigate the possibility of having this done to a Brodix set, then finding an intake that will a) fit the heads and compliment their flow, then b) fit under the LT1 hood c) play nice with all the components, c) keep the whole kit in an affordable package. I'm reaching for our Brodix catalong I brought home as we speek.
My car is down for a rebuild now. Perhaps instead of an LT1 rebuild I'll call it "Project LT6," slayer of the LSx's

Brodix
I have a good friend who is on Steve Kinser's Pit Crew who has some ties to brodix and was told that LT1 heads would be available with in " a couple months". This was about a week ago.
Take it for what it is worth, I was qouted approx. $1800. I don't know any specifics about the heads as far as basis for design, flow ect.. We'll see what happens.

This is your intake answer: http://www.lt1intake.com/services.htm
This idea becomes more feasable with every post. If we could come up with a bolt-on package to do so, do you think we could convince people to pay the extra $$?
Last time I spoke to Brodix was in Nov. and they gave me the typical speech about the uselessness and worthlessness of the LT1 market. They DID say they were interested in developing some LS1 stuff.

When the bare AFR 215RR castings are what they are it's kind of hard to fight that price for them since you are going to get pretty dam good numbers from them.
Now the 18X's are an idea! But it's still easier to convert a old SBC to revearse cool, plus you can get more cubes with a 400 or Bowtie block.
Bret
Hey Bret,
Can you convert a SBC to reverse cool using LT1 water pump and accesory brackets? What I'm getting at is, how stealthy could you do the conversion? Unlimited head options, stronger block, and more cubes would be awesome but I'd like to "appear" as LT1ish as possible......

One thing that should be taken into consideration, is whether or not all of the converting is necessary to meet whomever's individual goals. When you really get into it, you're talking about quite a bit of $ to most people, with $2500-4k in heads, another $700-1500 in an intake depending on how extreme you're going, and then the shortblock requirements for running heads with X valve angles. If there was a huge market for it, I'd do conversions all day long, because it certainly is fun, but I have yet to see much demand for it once the actual costs are layed out.
Most people have goals of 400-500rwhp, which doesn't necessitate high dollar swaps IMO - just a decent shortblock with a well thought out topend package.

Maybe its not the 500rwhp.. but how you want to do them.. I would love to do 600rwhp with a 7L in it N/A. and it can be done.. cost? way high maybe.. but the idea of the 7L and maybe using the lt1 intake looks nice.
If you want to make 600rwhp (figure around 700flywheel) with a pump gas engine that's mild enough to drive daily, then you're going to be getting into some serious $. It's certainly doable, Mr. Horsepower's sb2.2 headed 434 is an excellent example - it doesn't have a huge camshaft & doesn't need to be turned past 8000rpm, but you are getting into engines that cost more than the car did new
