Breaking in sollid roller

Breaking in sollid roller

Looking for some help with this becuase i do not know much about this and a search yeilded no mentionable results(in either forum)

I have a LT1, stock bottom end(for now) and a cam motions single patter 244 duration .611 lift on a 112 LSA
CC 943 paecalloy Valve springs so i am running alot of seat pressure.
Melling high pressure pump(stock pan)
Crane sollid roller lifters

Just currious, what am suppose to do on initial startup? I vaugely remember people saying run it at like 2000 rpm for several minutes. Whwn should i change the oil?

Also what should i expect? I am refering to oil pressure, idle, noises, what to look for etc.

How should i drive it? I just read about 10 different post, all refering mostly to Hyd setupus, of rebilds. Most stated, drive it for 100 miles normal, change oil. then ride it really really hard. Does this apply to me?

Lastly, what is the proper meathod for check valve to piston clearance? do i just slap on a head and 2 RR and see if it turns over or do i need to measure it with clay?(if so how much)

i have asked alot of eng. builders about the same thing and never get the same answer. especially on the cam break in. the manuf. (comp cams) say to run the engine 1500-2000 rpm for 30 min. to insure proper oiling. being rollers i don't think there really is a "breakin".

I've always heard the same thing as above. However, most guys use this method to break-in NON-roller setups. Since you have a roller, be it solid or hydraulic, I don't think there is much break-in.

My opinion: start it, run it at low to average R's as stated above for 10 minutes, change the oil/filter if you feel it's neccesary (I would).

solid lifters knock your valves out of seat and you have to adjust them about every 2 months... right?

Since there is no hydrolic cusion(i cant spell lol) the lash must be checked/reset every 3000 miles is what i have heard.
I have also heard if you use a good stud girdle, it hold the same lash longer, but requires use of $$$ tall valve covers

Right, there is no real break in because of the rollers, but you do need to keep the rpms up for a little bit to get good oiling going. The lobes are only oiled by splash and the higher rpms allow that to happen. That will get the lobes and rollers oiled up.
