Break in and Block prep
Break in and Block prep
Ok so im doing a head swap on my 95 Hawk and i was wondering what i needed to do to prep the block and break it in.
Ive heard i need to heat cycle the springs before i can get on it.
Do i need to run oil through it and then change it soon? I am not doing a cam swap but am chaging lifters and valvetrain.
What is the best way to clean the block mating surfaces to the heads?
Im also thinking about taking a trip with open headers. Would this be a bad idea (150 miles)? I am going true duals and was thinking about bolting up the mufflers straight up to the headers and them plug in the o2 sensors. The headers are pacesetter LTs and the mufflers are Flowtech afterburners. Could i get some 3" slip fit tubes and clamp the mufflers onto the collectors or what?
Im also going from stock heads to LE2 heads and MACs to long tubes. Would this hurt to run open loop without a tune?
Oh yea, im also switching to 30lb injectors from stock 24lbers.
Thanks,
Stu
