brand new motor in and running, got some questions.

I had the machine shop bore out a new LT1 .030 over, order speedpro hyper LT1 pistons, bearings, and recon the rods with ARP bolts, etc, used the LT4 hotcam kit, ported heads and intake, tuned by madtuner. I plastigauged everything and it came out right between the high and low side of the tolerances. I put the whole thing together and got it in the car and running. She runs awesome, great power, about 450 miles on it so far, no leaks anywhere, oil looks great, coolant is great. using 10W30 valvoline blend in it for now. Its got about 60 psi cold startup, 45-50 hot idle, and about 50-70 cruise/WOT, all with a melling STD. colume STD. pressure oil pump with hardened shaft. Is that too high of an oil pressure or is this normal for a brand new motor? Also how long to break in a new clutch? about 500 miles? Any other tips for new motor breakin? Thanks guys, you all helped me out and she runs awesome.

"BLEND" oil? you want to break in with regular oil......

Run her hard a few times to be sure the rings seal up good...thats how I do it...then do a cyl. leak down test after you get a few miles on it....

I also would cut your filter open after the first oil change, pull the element out flat and inspect it good.

You oil sounds fine.......as long as it goes up when you hit the gas you should be o.k.

On my old car when i broke the motor in i keep it in lower gears and would let the engine slow the car down and drive it in 1st or 2nd going faster and slower but not using the brake. Someone said this would help a lot.

i did the first 200 miles with rotella 30W and changed it with the filter to the blend stuff. It seems to be running great, not eating a drop of oil in the 500 more miles i put on it. No leaks whatsoever and runs like a raped ape. Would you say the clutch is broken in yet?

Do you mean you let the gears slow you down---and not the engine?
BTW: brakes are cheaper than transmissioins.
