brakes after hotcam?
hi there,
took the car for a spin today to help solve my idle problems and i fixed a vaccum leak. but my brakes are crappy!!!
they dont stop the car like they used to... before the cam
i know i dont have any leaks, so i how can i improve my braking (vaccum) with a cam, is there something i can put in the brake lines leading to the master cyclinder to impove the vac?

Man! I had the same problem, and I am STILL having this same problem! I bled my brakes etc... Can someone please find an answer to this problem.
I bought a new master cylinder that I hope will fix this problem!!! Anyone?

Amazing! I have the same problem. The only difference is I didn't drive my car in 2 months and I took it to my boy's house to repair a few things I almost crashed. It felt like the braking system on a tank
It will be a little expected that your brakes down hold as much as before due to less vacuum created by the cam. Have you checked to see how much vacuum your engine is getting at idle and other various rpm's? If I recall correctly, anything lower than about 10-12 psi of vacuum is not good for power brakes. They (who THEY is, I don't know lol) do make a Vacuum canister to assist in storing vacuum to assist with power brakes and bigger cams. With a Hotcam, I wouldn't expect it to be needed though. I would continue to look for other vacuum leaks.

No way hotcam should leave you with no brakes. Time to buy a vacuum guage and find out what type of vacuum your motor is producing.
One problem you may be having is that the idle in the computer is not high enough for the cam. My brakes seemed a little funky with the cam and stock idle setting. It was very noticeable until I used LT1 edit to bump up the idle.

Well, I had my chip burnt by Brian at PCM for LEss so the tuning shouldn't be an issue. I as well don't have any vacuum leaks. I will check out the vacuum psi when I take it back to work, what's the range I should be at?

when i'm stopped
Even before tunning I didn't really notice any difference.
