Angry brake problem

i brought my car in to get it checked out because my brakes i think were acting up...
the half second before i came to a complete stop the car would feel like it would lose breaking and slide for a second, then stop. my low trac light would come on and there is no noise!

they said my ABS was coming on right before i came to a stop because my car thinks its geting low traction. (which i was guessing) they said they didnt really know what to tell me besides there were no error codes found on my ABS, and my rotors were a little warped.

they told me to machine my rotors and bleed the brake system.

well i just installed my new powerslot rotors and hawk performance pads. bled the brakes, and i still have the same freakin problem!

what could be causing this to happen!? they also said that the WSS and other curcuits and sensors looked fine. whats wrong!?

Re: brake problem

Hello,
I know this is a year later, but I am having the exact same problem and I just wondered if you or anyone else knows what the problem is. As was said before, when comming to a stop it is like the brakes let off for a few seconds and then come back on. Wierd feeling.

-edit-

I noticed my signature isnt comming up so here is my car info:

1996 Firebird Formula
stock, nothing special(I just drive it.. not really into racing and stuff)

Re: brake problem

The first thing to check is the connections on the ABS sensors. Disconnect them, clean them, plug them back in and make sure they're tight. I think this problem is often due to a sensor reporting something like "this wheel isn't turning" when it still is.

Re: brake problem

thanks for the input. Are there any good sites where I could look at detailed diagrams and such that point out where things like the abs sensor are and maybe good installation guides or something?

Re: brake problem

On your '96 there are three ABS connections. Two on the front hubs, one on the top of the rear differential case.

The front connections you can see at the very top of this pic http://www.go-fast.org/z28/MyParts/hub5.jpg of the hub. So if you look behind the wheel, you'll see that electrical connector - it's the only one there.

For the rear, again it's the only electrical connector, plugging in a the top of the diff, so you should be able to find it rather easy. Sorry, I couldn't find a pic handy.
