Brake Inquiry

Hey Guys,

Couple questions........ Over the last couple weeks when I started my car the ABS inop light would come on. Just occassionally and if I shut the car off and started it again it would go away. I figured that maybe my rotors were getting a little thin??? Well today on my way home from work when i fired it up the brake light and the ABS inop light came on and they would not go off. My brakes flt completely fine as I drove home( slowly just in case).

How many miles do you normally get from Pads and how many from Rotors???? I have slotted cross-drilled rotors.

Fluid levels are fine and none of the calipers are sticking so I am assuming just time for brakes???? But I was not sure if both lights would come one like that?

Last time I went with Performance Friction Z rated pads and the cross-drilled and slotted rotors. It improved but still doesnt seem to stop nearly as good as my fiances 98 V6. Am I better off to switch to the 98 + setup stock over my current set-up??

Wheres the best place to pick up a 98+conversion?

Thanks
Shawn

check the fluid, and the lines. could be time for stainless lines .

as for the 98 v6, it has the better brakes any way. you could upgrade the brakes to the Z06 brakes for like 500 bucks, then you wouldnt have a problem stopping

depends, some have a 100k mile lifespan, some only have 50-60k. most cheapo's have the 50k. it also depends on your pads. if you have ceramic or carbon-kevlar, they eat rotors for lunch. low dust pads are really hard on rotors.
