brake booster thingie?

okay, so i finally got my heads and cam setup running.. and one of the problems i encountered during the test drive was that my brakes were like totally gone.. i didnt think a 230/236 was big enough to f with the vacuum, but apparently it is... so, my reason for the thread, where do i get one of the brake canister things? i cant find it on jegs, summit, or any sponsor type sites..

What is the LSA? If there is a lot of valve overlap then yes you should have some brake issues, but nothing to where your brakes are "totally gone."
Put a vacuum gauge on there and see what's happening. Better to treat the cause than the symptom.
Did you bleed the brakes for any reason before/during the install? Was anything changed with the brake system before/during the cam install? What kind of sealant used? Were any of the vacuum ports on the intake manifold removed and reinstalled? If so, what was used as a sealant? EGR blockoff plate? If so, was there a gasket used or sealant for the plate? Did you re-use the intake manifold gaskets?

Differential diagnosis, people. Go!

by no brakes do you mean the pedal is hard to push or goes to the floor, have you checked the brake booster vacuum line, how does the car run. does it idle ok, also check the brake vacuum line to make sure it is not soft from ingesting brake fluid from a failed master cylinder seal

nope, i didnt touch the brakes.. theyre stiff, and to stop i have to stand on the pedal..

must be a vacuum leak (uh oh).. lol

i guess my next question is, whats the little 1/8th inch tube on the passenger side go to? (i have !air and ! egr, but that was before the heads/cam)

EDIT: oh yeah, the cam specs are: 230/236 @ .050, .544/.555, LSA 114 (i didnt think that was a big enough overlap to cause it.. but apparently this cams up near cc306 territory)

EDIT AGAIN: now that i think about it, it was idling pretty weird too.. it wouldnt stay in one place, and a couple times the SES light came on (but i figured it was due to my wiring on the EWP, which is fixed now)

vacuum leak here we come

passenger side of intake or throttle body

intake two small fittings, 1)fuel pressure regulator 2) wire harness to heater box

throttle body big and medium, 1)top goes to evap 2)bottom goes to pcv

just bouncin ideas of ya waitin to get shot down

edit: i would also take a real good look at the brake booster vacuum line again

ill have to check the small ones, but i know i got the top on on, and i know i got the pcv on... the one small one i know isnt connected looks like its trying to hook up pointing straight up (if ya catch my drift).. basically, all of the tubing sat for long enough that i can tell where it was supposed to go, but this one looks like it wants go to forward on the intake, and plug into something straight up...

heh heh... just checked, and it turns out if i flipped it so it was pointing backward, after snaking it around my wire harness, it lined up perfectly with my fuel pressure regulator..

just to make sure.. which ones the heater box thing?

Could you please buy a vacuum gauge and see what is happening? I'm beginning to wonder if your valves are grossly maladjusted.

well, after plugging up my fuel pressure regluator, and a great big (like 1" or bigger) hole on the drivers side (it connected with the tube that goes under the TB), i think the vacuum problem is fixed, but now either my tune is total ****, or i just REALLY need an lt4 knock sensor, cause this things running leaner than nichole richie.

i was looking for an oil leak yesterday, and decided to pull the #8 plug wire to get it out of the way, and when i pulled the boot, out came the back half of the plug.

maybe that had something to do with the recent backfiring.
