Bought a Dynaspark; arrived DOA. :(

Just can't win can I!

Dynaspark (Tim) was super helpful when I talked with them on the phone asking questions about placing an order. Tim said he believed there were a couple 'older' housings that were rebuilt with all new components that Bob Hogan would probably let go for cheaper.

Talked with them the next day, and was told I could get a Gen II Opti for $400 shipped. Supposedly newly rebuilt, tested, same warranty and all that.

Guy that's got my car got the new opti and wouldn't work. He talked with Dynaspark and he told him that some were sent out wired wrong, faxed him a diagram to make sure the wiring was right. As far as he can tell, the plugs are wired right, but, since the opti itself is sealed, can't check inside.

Basically, no optical output. He said with my temperamental old opti, with it hooked up, he can get the coil packs and injectors to fire. With the Dynaspark, nothing.

So, I get to call Dynaspark tomorrow to see what's up. Being it was a 'discounted' unit, I don't know if they will send me a replacement right out with return shipping. Hope they do, as that is the proper way to handle this IMO.

We'll see what happens in the morning!

Can't get nothing right with this car.

I guess now you know why it was "cheaper". I thought the whole deal with Dynaspark was to get something that was higher quality. I know it does not mean all their units are bad, but it sure does not help their reputation. Sorry for your bad luck, Dave.

A good borrowed opti was thrown on and it fired right up, so, confirms this Dynaspark is dead for one reason or another. Could be trash, could be miswired, who knows. Going to call Bob Hogan here shortly and see how they handle this.

I called up Dynaspark this morning to see what was going to happen. They are paying shipping back on the unit we have, and are going to check inventory and get us out another unit today or tomorrow. Can't complain on the way it was handled. Let's see if it all follows through.

Me too. I guess they are not cross-shipping unfortunately, so we're out until they receive this one to 'figure out what they sent me'.

Well it's a good thing that they took care of you, I know it will work out for you. Me on the other hand am having trouble with Thunder Racing..it's been over a month and still no part, sure they took the money..but my part is MIA...

You could have gone to oreillys or an online store and got a brand new gm opti for about that price. Maybe they can refund you once they get the opti and you can go there

I hope so too. That really sucks. Just talked with Bob, I guess I misunderstood the guy with my car. They are sending out another unit tomorrow morning, should have it Monday.

Hope so. He hasn't had a chance to put it in yet. I got pushed back a bit with some other work.

Here is some other recent dealings with the Dynaspark:

Not looking too favorable for those that were looking for a long term opti solution.
