Bottom of roller rocker arms are rubbing the nut on my studs?!
Bottom of roller rocker arms are rubbing the nut on my studs?!
OK, just got in some 1.6 RR and was getting ready to install them after my rebuild. I have a CC306, stock length pushrods, and these 1.6 RR. Anways, the RR were bottoming out before they were seating on the pushrods and the tops of the valves. I wasnt really expecting this since my 1.5 RR didnt do it. Do I need longer pushrods or???? Just a little surprised and confused and was wondering if anyone has run into this before and what they did about it. TIA!

Longer PR's would fix it if the roller tip is in the right place on the valve stem.

Are you sure the pushrods are seated in the lifters? If not, it would cause that problem. Did you change ANYTHING else, or just swap rockers? And is it doing this on all of them?

Oops, i just saw you did a rebuild. You should be good with all the stock hardware and lifters and stuff, I was. Obviously something isn't in the right place.

I have Comp R lifters now. By chance, does anyone know the stock length for an LT1 pushrod, is it the same as all SBCs. Springs were changed, but that wouldnt change the height of the top of the valve. As far as geometry, I couldnt see why anything would be out of whack, how could it be. Heads werent milled, new lifters. I dont know! TIA

none at all. Still using the stock length pushrods and stock replacement lifters so it shouldn't be an issue. Like I said before, something is not right. Make sure everything is seated correctly and check the pushrod length.

The geometry will change with ratio.

My pushrods are still the factory ones and my RR were bought from Jegs. Just their 149.99 Jegs brand for a SBC. I was wondering if by adding the guide plates, would that raise the nut on the stud enough to cause my interference? They are still the stock rocker studs, but something is messed up.
