Bottom End Stew.. MUST SEE!!!
Re: Bottom End Stew.. MUST SEE!!!
Well.. Honestly the motor wasnt spinning all that many RPM's when it went.. I think it was somewhere just above 4800.. Im gonna guess that it was Bad Machine Shop work. Every rod bolt cap that I pulled off was loose as a vietnamese hooker during the war! I do think that it looks as bad as it does because I was doing 80 or so on the freeway when it let loose and the clutch didnt go in at the exact time that it blew.. took me a sec to realise that it wasnt the trans or the rear-end! Reguardless.. Dont ever go to Eddings Engine or Steves Auto in the San Fernando Valley here in CA! Im still dealing with them to get some sort of re-imbursment. The motor was put together and fired up for the first time 13 months before it blew. I had a 12 month warranty, and I only have maybe 10k on the rebuild if that, and most of those miles are highway Vegas cruising miles.
Well.. Glad you are all enjoying the pics.. Keep the comments comming.. Im laughing my *** off reading half these responses!

Just busting your chops, Mike. That's some pretty extreme destruction. A little machine work will make it all better. Just a hone on the cylinders and you can reuse the block!

Re: Bottom End Stew.. MUST SEE!!!
Hey man... I may drive it like I stole it, but fact is I still dropped 10k into that damn motor and it should have never blown up like it did... I could see maybe spinning a bearing or throwing A rod, but not 6!
Oh well.. The new one will be better, stonger and more powerful! I feel like Tim Allen with this new build.. lol!
BTW, you still diggin your new GTO? You need to take it to LACR and see what it will run!
See ya man!

I will have to give it a try at LACR. Time to see what this thing will run.
Re: Bottom End Stew.. MUST SEE!!!
The block is really inbetter shape than I thought, I had a 350 let go one time (cam broke just behind the two front cylenders) it windowed the block on both sides and the pan looked very simular to yours...lol
I would have to say something let loose to cause that, and not the bottom, the bottom stuff looks like reactionary damage.

Re: Bottom End Stew.. MUST SEE!!!
yup i recognize the carnage!unfortunately...........its funny how stuff blows up just outside of the warranty just from the pics as well as previous experiences i would say a rod or two let go first then caused the rest,a loose cap(improperly torqued)will definately show in time i am positive the WAVELOCKS did not stretch that much, well hopfully you get back rollin soon i noticed where you got your heads done, maybe you can get the rest of the motor done@CMS,give a holla when you come back to vegas!!www.lvfbody.com
