borla or flowmaster
Sorry Ion...guys.... I meant to say I know I have a Flowmaster, but I don't know if its a 2 chamber or 3 or whatever actually. I wondering if I should put back in a high flow-cat.

cheap way out, with a cut out and zero other mods, u most definitly c a loss in in tq in an lt1 car, not sure about ls1's but i imagine things are similir. You need back pressure, none is only good for cars that are non N/A, but hey it's cheap, do it, if u don't like it ur out what 34$ for a cutout.

Lets put some 1" pipe on a LT1 with stock manifolds, after all, the more backpressure the better
No offence.
Im not paying $600 bucks for a million dollar warrenty!
Thats stupid if anything.
Knock the price down buy offering 100,000 mile warrenty.
Plus the pipes go out the same size looks like stock exaust off a 97 GMC 3/4 ton pick up LOL.
And there is no way you lose 6 hp from going from stock to Flowmaster.
Those test favor who ever pays for it that month.
Theres a millon Flowmaster on vehicals out there so I beleive that tell they are the best.

like something im familiar with... Pedegree dog food is the highest selling dog food in the world, but that doesnt make it good, or even healthy for dogs...
Fram filters people will argue for ages that they make crap because they are built w/ cardboard... who knows... used to be a good company but not any more i guess
just because something is common doesnt mean its good... mustangs seem to be a dime a dozen these days... that must mean they are really fast and reliable

You sir need to do a little research. Dyno runs have proven time and time again that the more free the exhast flows, the more HP and TQ you will make. N/A cars needing backpressure is a myth, if it wasn't then why would anyone consider a 4" exhast system or a cutout?

You can get a used Borla catback in the Forsale section of this forum for half the price of a new one, I would recommend getting a used Borla and saving some money and get a DMH E-cutout so you can run wide open or Closed at a push of a switch. There is a Group Purchase going on right now for the DMH cutout. If you dont want to get the Borla used then I would suggest getting a Hooker catback.
Here are some pics and my writeup of the DMH install:

I had a flowmaster on my 91 RS. It was nice and sounded good but I don't know if I lossed an hp because of it. But I like my borla ten time more. And Tim H what do you mean, "Plus the pipes go out the same side." Mine doesn't. The single pipe comes back, branches into two. One out the left and one out to the right. Maybe I just read it wrong? Plus I like the nascar sound. Everyone keep asking me if I have a LS1.
I have had a Flowmaster, Loudmouth, and now Borla catback on my car.
The flowmaster sounded ok at low revs with the stock manifolds and cats, but as the revs climbed it made a loud, snarly, raspy whoosing sound. Once the headers and off road pipe went on, the flowmaster sounded like a diesel offshore fishing boat with a miss. I hated it.
I bought a Loudmouth used from a friend here locally, and installed it. Let me tell you, Loudmouth with headers and no cats is LOUD. Almost louder than a cutout. Offensively loud, and on top of that, it sounds like ***, with plenty of glass-pack snapping, poppling, farting and rasping everywhere. Oh yea, dont forget about the headaches from the LOUD interior resonance at cruising speeds.
I tossed the loudmouth and purchased a Borla about 5 weeks ago. I should have bought this system in the first place, it sounds awesome.
