Borla definitly over Slowmaster....SLP's single side out on the 96 SS wasn't a bad muffler, pretty much a straight through shot, very similar to a borla as far as design, but a little different sound.

I like Borla over flowmaster, i find drone anoying, but if you like the the flowmaster drone get the slp loudmouth with the resonator tips. This will yeild drone and also more power than a flowmaster

DEFINATELY BORLA, flowmasters sound good, but they dont sound as good as borla and they are way overrated. also, whoever said flowmaster will last longer is an idiot. like other people have said borla has a million mile warranty on their products. i have had mine for over a year and its just as perfect as when i bought it. if you dont mind the money, borla is the way to go!

If you spend over $600 for a cat-back system, it better have a "million mile warranty" IMO

Exclamation

I decided to get the Flowmaster for price only. When I put it on, I didn't like it. I liked it better after having installed the headers. However, if I had to do it again, I'd probably invest the extra to get a Borla. Or at least something else.

The guys at Thunder Racing told me they showed a loss of 6 hp over the stock system with Flowmaster.

I've heard the Loudmouth passing me at WOT and it sounded good!!!

Get a dynamax super turbo catback system. I don't know where you would buy it but its nice and deep in the low revvs and just screams up top I get many compliments over it and my LTs

I'm not here to debate on which one is better. I don't think you can even compare the two but....my $.02 on Borla.

People always knock on Borla's price. Keep in mind, some of the costs went into making those nice looking tips (the best IMO). If you look at a Jegs catalog, those tips by them selves are $$$$.

You can look at the tips and identify what exhaust system you have. I cannot identify other's people exhaust unless I look at the tips for 10 minutes. Then at best, it's still a guess. My only complaint is the lips are not rolled.

Also the built-in cutout, a good deal of money went in fabricating that section. If you own a Borla, you'll know what I mean. Also, it has a million mile warranty (a gimmick IMO). But it's good to know Borla will stand behind their product for as long as you own their product.

Maybe, some of the cost keeps the Borla name exclusive. If so, I'd gladly pay a few more bucks for that.

Take away those, the Borla would be just be as competitive in price as any other aluminunized steel cat-back.

I've come to realize this...

For the Mustang Guys the No.1 choice is FlowMaster

For the F-body Guys the No.1 Choice is Borla

I must say the Flow Bastards sound better on the 5.0 and 4.6L's...in a 5.7 they just don't have the same appeal.

Wink

Silly rabbit, Flowmaster is for trucks!
A nice stainless steel system belongs on a performance vehicle IMO.

I second Borla. I've had mine almost 5 years now and still love it. I've heard flowmaster, leave that for the suv's, trucks and mustangs. Go with borla or something else. You won't regret it.

If I were you, I'd take my time in getting it. If you don't have the money don't go out and by the cheapest thing. Just wait till you have the money. Good things come to those who wait.

Flowmasters sound decent, thats it. Mine rotted to hell, my buddy Jon94Z got his Borla at around the same time and his Borla still looks new. I just got the SLP Loud mouth and love it.

Anyone know if the Magnaflow is quieter than the Flowmaster. I don't know which one I have, I got it in 98. All I know is I'm going deaf. I need something quieter.

I think Magnaflow is quiter at part throttle than the Force II and American Thunder I used to have, but at wide open throttle, they sound about the same. Magnaflow may be a slightly louder at WOT.

Just get underneath the car and look at the muffler. It will clearly say "MAGNAFLOW" on it if it's Magnaflow.
