Borla Exhaust Question
Borla Exhaust Question
I am planning on buying a borla cat-back exhaust kit for my 96' Z28, and probably purchasing it off of ebay. I have found a buy-it-now auction with a kit for sale. But i noticed something different about it, it has 2 pipes coming out/exiting the drivers side of the muffler. This doesnt seem normal because the seller indicates that it is a genuine borla product, number 14555 but that kit number on borla's website pertains to a kit with only one larger pipe exiting the driver's side of the muffler.
This is a link to the kit i found on ebay:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WD1V
This is what it should look like according to borla:http://www.borla.com/media/prod_images/xlarge/14555.jpg
My thoughts are that it is a system of more high end power, power increased at higher rpms, due to its less restriction. Does anyone know much about this setup? Is this something that i should worry about or should i go ahead and buy this kit? It's cheaper than any other borla #14555 kit i have found for my car.

Re: Borla Exhaust Question
I see what you mean, there are differences in the systems in those pictures. The only thing I can tell you is on RKSport's website they use the same picture as the one in the eBay auction, but with the disclaimer "Actual part may not be pictured."
My guess would be it really looks like Borla's pic.

Re: Borla Exhaust Question
That second image looks like what is on my car. I don't really see any reason why the first one wouldn't work, if they are both made for our vehicles. Even if it don't work, most exhaust shops should be able to fabricate something to make it work. But when you are spending that kind of dough, I would just want to bolt up the sweet sound of Borla.

Re: Borla Exhaust Question
I believe, from what I've read on this board, that origionally Borla came out wiht the dual exit on the driver's side version. It was the model used for LT1 cars. then somewhere along the line Borla switched to the single pipe on each side of the muffler.
I have a Borla catback meant for a LS1 on my '95 and it has the single pipe coming out of the drivers side of the muffler. Either or shoudl work. I doubt theres any difference in performance or sound. Its definately a good quality catback.

Re: Borla Exhaust Question
yea mine looks exactly like the one in the ebay auction picture, there wont be any fitment or sound changes between the two versions..
Hands down, Borla is downright nasty on LT1's

Re: Borla Exhaust Question
THe older Borlas have 2 pipes off the driverside... newer versions have one single pipe... also the older versions don't say Borla on the muffler. They both bolt up exactly the same the only thing that has changed is the 2 pipes into a single pipe. I loke the older version better... that's what I had. Regaurdless Borla has the best sounds for our cars.. I'd but it up against any competitve muffler... even GMMG.
