Re: boom tube or gmmg?

Well I am not real familiar with the boomtube, but it sounds more like a nick name for poopshute to me. Anyways I love the way my GMMG sounds with both Stock and Hooker Headers. I would go with something proven and quality. I could get into one of my 500 word rants but I wont, just look up GMMG posts with my name and you'll hear all my good BS'ing about GMMG. I even have a review in there somewhere.

Re: boom tube or gmmg?

how much more of a gain does it give than a magnaflow, and on the soundclips how come the magnaflow sounds louder doing burnouts?

Re: boom tube or gmmg?

Gains, idono but you gain little to nothing with using a cutout with a GMMG catback. GMMG also has better flowing mufflers comparible to straight pipes.

Loudness and sound...for comparison lets say Magnaflow is a black and white kitten from petsmart and GMMG is an Adult German Shephard.

The clips dont catch the sound of the GMMG as well and most clips you find are LS1's, which dont sound as mean as th LT1's do. I found out quick that the clips posted online only give you about 1/4 of what the GMMG is really like.

Just one more pice of info on the GMMG. There's a GP going on at LS1TECH.com for the GMMG exhaust. $625 with standard tips. Got 7 more days to decide...

Re: boom tube or gmmg?

I removed my cats last week and I liked the GMMG better with cats. Now it's more raspy.

Here's a clip with the cats (and a cam)

Sounds nice, but the custom 3" Magnaflow on my car (not the catback system) sounds pretty similar from that clip. Mine has a little more bark at idle, but I am running a 11:1 383.

A rubber mallet might mysteriously find its way under the car to "coerce" the old cats... I'll get vids as soon as I humanly can.

Got to disagree man, definitely sounds better with the cats in (as any cat-back system does on our 4th gens). Although a little quieter, the tone is deeper and more refined with the cats while somewhat raspy without.

I'm probably going to run Mac Mid-lengths with either a highflow cat or a Dynomax Bullet in place of where the stock cat is through the GMMG on my LT1.

Re: boom tube or gmmg?

Hmmm until I hear a clip or in person of an LT1 with !CAT, I really don't wanna pass judgement. As it stands my gmmg sounds 100% different than my friend's LS1 with gmmg. Very interesting...
