BOOKS on LT1 rebuilds????
Hey Fbods. Im getting ready for the first time to Build my First 383 LT1. I feel like I have graduated to the next step. I have a good feel for everything else that goes on with my LT1 Camaro. ANything from pulling out the motor. TO brakes. Changing Heads. Headers etc... Now I wanna get into the internals.
Theres a book that people have been telling me about and I think its called ("How to Build LT1/LT4 Engine") I would like to know if anyone here has used this book and had success with it. Also if you had your first time experience building an LT1 please I would like to hear from you. I can use all kinda of help
Thanks
Chris

Shoebox. how you doing. Havn't talk to you in a while. On the 383 is there a big difference between the two builds. Meaning if I follow the specs and engine assembly on the stock rebuild. other than clearance issues. The assembly of the rotating assembly is ruffly the same correct?

Re: BOOKS on LT1 rebuilds????
My first time rebuilding an engine was an LT1. I did a .030" over-bored block, and replaced all the internals with forged pieces.
One thing I found helpful was to get a good relationship going with a local machine shop, and assemble the engine in their shop (as long as they are willing) and have them watch you as you go along. It really helps build your confidence in what you are doing, and can keep you from ruining hard work and what could be a lot of money (although rebuilding it is pretty easy).
