Bolt-on 96Z 6-speed dyno

Dynoed my bro's 96z today and it put down 276hp/313tq on a mustang dyno. The car had a miss up top which I'm guessing is a bad opti and the A/F was really rich something like 11.9-12.3 throughout the RPM range. the only mods the car has is PS longtubes, dynomouth, CAI. Not bad for an LT1 with 134K miles.

I would expect a bit more than that, but like you said there are a couple of issues. Check the plug wires and opti for the high RPM miss. Get a good tune and you will find more power.

I was a little surprised that it put down what it did considering it was a mustang dyno. The owner of the shop said it should put down close to 300hp on a dynojet, but still we need to find the ignition problem.

I dynoed 285whp and 330wtq on a dynojet with similar AFR(mine actually hit 10.3) so those are good numbers! I would try a tune as that is what fixed my issue.

Mustang dyno #'s are lower than typical dynojet numbers. More load is placed on the car with a Mustang dyno.
