Angry Blownup DS

Well I was on my way home from a Metallica concert last night and a 98+ ram air T/a passed me so we ran each other on the hwy and at about 110mph my driveshaft exploded! So Im in need of a new one right now and I was wondering what are my options when it comes to this? I don't want to spend $500 on one so if you guys know of any good deals care to point one my way? Thanx!

You could try a salvage yard and see if they have any 1LEs...Ta Creations

You could ask them, they might have one.

If you go to Summit Racing and type in IED-CF8200 in the search part # box they have a 3 inch aluminum one for 325...

GM Parts direct has new 1les available for two hundred something, but I don't know the part # on that one.

Anyone know the part # for a LS1 driveshaft? I did a search but I couldn't find it.

Just get a 1LE one. It's only about $10 or so more expensive, but it's stronger.

PN: 10085375

Get it from Jason Cromer. He has the best prices. You can also order the LS1 driveshaft if you want, just do a search for his phone number and give him a call. Tell him you want an LS1 driveshaft and he'll find it for you.

The 1LE shafts don't vibrate like the stock steel ones do they? My broken one vibrated pretty bad and I don't want that to happen again. Thanx for the part # madwolf

Wow I just called my local GM dealer and the 1LE shaft is $643 CND Any other ideas? I'm just trying all my options before having to get one across the boarder.

The 1LE shaft is aluminum, so it won't vibrate like the steel one.
Check your local junkyards for LS1 F-bodies.

best deal in town - for a steel driveshaft that is. I just bought one to replace the orange rusted piece of crap I have.

SLPONLINE.com

Driveshaft, Heavy-Duty 1982-02 Camaro/Firebird Steel - $199.95

This is an improved version of the heavy-duty steel driveshaft used in our 1997 LT4 Firehawk and Camaro SS car program. Now equipped with even heavier wall tubing, it's significantly stronger than the stock LT1 and L98 steel shafts as well as the 1LE aluminum piece. New features include a harmonic balancer on the yoke that further reduces drivetrain vibration over the previous design. We've even lowered the price!

NOTES: Driveshaft comes painted black. May be used as a replacement part on 1998-2002 LS1 cars.

I just ordered a LPE 3 1/2" aluminum shaft to replace the 1le shaft I broke. It's $299 plus shipping.

Thanx for the help guys! Anyone know the best place to get a new yoke from? Or is the dealer really the only place that will sell them?

The LPE shaft includes u-joints and yoke. If you just need the yoke I don't know.
