blown connector
hey,
My engine was ticking so i stopped driving it and tried to flush my oil and change iut and hope it would go away, but no luck. So i finally took it to a mechanic and he is telling me i need a completrly new engine because i have "broke the connector rod and pistons"
Do i really neeed a completely new engine like he says or can it be fixed cheaper? thanks

Re: blown connector
If a connecting rod and piston broke you would not be driving it.
Ticking noises can come from virtually anything. I had 3 different kinds with my car, and only one was a serious issue.
-bearings
-oil problems
-flexplate
-exhaust leak
-injectors
-lifters
those are just a couple I can think of off hand. Like said, get a second opinion. Stethoscopes are cool tools to use too. It helped me pinpoint my ticking flexplate.
