Oh and the JB weld idea sounds great to meach, cheap and inexpensive all the more better, 450$ for Morel lifters puts a hole in the funds

BSM, I run the Lunati and have had no problems at all and I spin mine up to 6800 rpm pretty regular. When my engine was tore down, we just removed the bearing and drive assembly for the water pump from the block and left the hole open. The hole in the timing cover was filled with a properly fitted freeze plug.

just a FYI: the lunatti chain is nothing but a stock GM timing set in a lunatti box..dont believe me, look at the part numbers on the gears and look them up on any GM site...second you can leave the gear stickin out of the timing cover...will work just fine and wont have to second guess the jb weld breaking, etc

To be honest I thought about reusing the set but if the lunati chain gives a little more assurance, I will go with it. I do not want to go to a vented opti, if at anything if i changed it would be a coil per cyl setup. Thanks for the help everyone, its always appreciated.
