Blew up 2nd transmission, need some thoughts

Ok, first my mods list, LT4 heads and intake ported to the dickens and back, CC306 cam, all the goody valvetrain stuff, headers, McLeod Street Twin, LPE DS, and Moser 12 bolt w/ 3.73s. Just to name the important stuff.

Now, to my problem. . .

A few months ago, I blew apart my 94 tranny off a launch @ 4000rpms with some REALLY stickey BFGs. Yesterday I ran for the last time of the season and decided to go ***** out. So I go down again with my 97 tranny back in (a damn fine tranny I might add). All day I was busting the tires loose, I didn't really heat up the tires that much, just a little. With shatty 2.0 60's running 12.5s @ 114mph all day long. So at the end of the day, me and my buddy line up. I do a HUGE burnout, got the tires all nice and toasty! I did my dry hops, got to the line, and instead of launching at 3500-4000rpms, I dumped it 5000rpms and I just sat there free revving. So I blew another output shaft. Well at least my DS held up this time!!

I must remedy this transmission hater of mine. Anyone have any suggestions on what it is, my pinion angle is at -3 degrees. So that isn't the problem. One speculation is my McLeod Street Twin, which is literally a none slipping bastard!!! I took the clutch apart a few weeks ago to replace a seal, and the sucker just imprints the discs onto the flywheel, floater disc, and pressure plate. A few of my buddies think since the clutch doesn't want to give, and the car is making some power, something has to go. And this is twice that I have broken the output shaft on a tranny.

I'll be calling McLeod on monday to talk tech with them about it, but I'd figure I see if anyone else has experience like this. I know there alot more people out there with T56s that have more power than I that doesn't have this problem and run a helluva lot fast ETs and MPHs than me. Any suggestions?

T400 or 350, also get a blanket or shield, and SFI approved flywheel.

I blew up my 700R4 in October. Pieces tore through the floorpan and into my leg. No fun.

You appear to have plenty of power. May as well get a transmission that can handle it.

I have an answer. I run a 4060e tranny and mine just broke after heavy acceleration on the street. Its popped and the output shaft area went BOOM! Lost all my fluid and cracked the housing.

Transmission shop diagnosed the problem as my driveshaft too long with my moser 12 bolt. The distance between the two yokes is less than the distance with a stock rear end thus causing too much stress on the output shaft of the tranny. Thank god the transmission shop found this because they were stumped why my output shattered.

They are getting my driveshaft cut down for me as part of the repair. Hope this helps!
