Blew a head gasket, gonna do a rebuild, noob needs some help
Hey all, I blew my headgasket earlier today so I figured I might as well rebuild the motor because it has 177,110 miles on it
This is the kit I'm looking at: http://www.flatlanderracing.com/hpkits-chevy.html
It's the 13th kit on the list. What comp and stroke should I have them send me? I want this thing very streetable, yet lay down some good #'s as well. Also no cam or lifters are included, so what do you suggest? I've never rebuilt an engine before, but I got some friends who are gonna help me (mechanics). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Heres my best advice........talk to a few engine builders and tell them what you have in mind. Pick their brains so to speak and get the setup that fits EXACTLY to your requirments.
These guys rebuild engines for a living. I'm assuming (I may be wrong) you and your buddies do not. So, talk to some guys get the facts do alot of research and go from there. i know alot of people who have blown engines not once but TWICE because their engine was not setup up right.
To me its not worth the guess work especially if your going to dump that much money into it.
Not to scare you or anything but....do it right do it once. Until you need more power that is.
