Bleed coolant while engine running? How to exactly..

Bleed coolant while engine running? How to exactly..

When i bleed the coolant do i let the engine run or do i let it warm up and turn off and then bleed. Just plz tell me how! Shoebox's thing confused me a little.

Yes, I believe you do it while the car is running. It's been awhile.

Last sentence in my drain and refill procedure:

"Run engine again until the thermostat is open and check again for air at the bleeder screws. "

You can do this with the engine at operating temp and running. Just crack the bleeder screws. If solid coolant comes out, there is no air. Don't get caught in the belt.

sorry, i guess in my haste i just overlooked it . BTW i put a 160* stat in and my gauge on the dash/pcm read 180* most of the time or about 176ish degrees on the interstate. I have read that the since the thermostat OPENs (via your site shoebox) that it will be higher, but twenty degrees?

When the ambient temp is mild, you will run ~15º higher than the opening temp of the thermostat. Same with either thermostat. The cooler it is out, the closer the engine will run to thermostat opening temp.
