Black soot and some liquid out exhaust
I have a 93 Trans Am. And when i start it up it blows out black soot and some liquid out the exhaust. It only does this on cold starts. Any one know what this might be. I cant tell what the liquid is.
I belive the liquid should be condensation that has been sitting in the pipes from the last time you started it, and the black soot means your car is just blowing out some carbon. Does your car have a cat? If it does it may be going bad, but nothing is wrong unless you have to pass emissions. Cars without cats tend to burn dirty, and blow out the black soot because the cat isn't cleaning the exhaust coming from the engine. Anybody chime in if Im wring but I think thats what you need to know.
White smoke = burning coolant (bad)
Blue Smoke = Burning oil (bad)
Black Smoke = Carbon (might smell alittle, but is ok)
