black smoke very hard start

Basically I am looking for everything that would cause a car to blow black smoke and have very hard starts (foot to floor). Even when it does start it dies shortly after. This is after a cam install.

I know you guys are probably sick of seeing my posts about this but I want my car

Hotcam in mostly stock engine(just intake and exhaust)

As I said the car will occasionally start but it seems like it floods very quickly. You have to hold it to the floor to get it to start and when it does it will not idle without your foot on the gas. It has idled on its own once or twice which makes me think its not the timing. I was looking at other things however I have a mechanic looking at it now and he says there is way to much fuel. It fouls the plugs after less than a minute running.

These are the things I found doing a search.

Fuel pressure regulator
dirty or clogged injectors
02 sensors
Intake leak
Egr leak
Rockers to tight
timing

The fuel pressure is good and he has allready readjusted the rockers. It does not sound like there is a intake leak(no hissing).
I have checked the timing myself and it was dot to dot, later I put #1 at tdc and the opti rotor was at the 6:30 position(which as I understand is right). I have removed the egr valve and used block off plates on the back of the intake. I have not removed the tubes yet but I have them plugged at all openings(possibly leaking?). Any other suggestions?

Did you have the computer tuned for the new cam? SD cars are alot more particular about cam swaps than mass air cars are.

Black smoke means it's running rich, so I would look into getting it tuned for your cam.

well that's your problem right there. 93's can't tune themselves like the other years can. i'm suprised it actually runs hehe

Are you serious? Could just the tuning be causing my problems? I thought that the hotcam would run without tuning even on a speed density car. I don't really have money to throw around right now.

yep, i'm serious. without a maf they cant really compensate for any major change. You'll have to get a madz28 or pcmforless tuning, unless you can find a place that will do a 93 for you (don't know of any) ....
