Question Biggest Cam that will pass emissions?

Just wondering what is the biggest cam that will pass emissions. I live in Ontario Canada and they are brutal up here. I also want to put headers on. I was thining a CC306. How will that do in an emissions tested car? Thanks

It all depends on how good your tunning is and how strict your emmissions testing is. Believe it or not mine passes with 236/244 druation 112degrees and 608/614 lift. If you can get a good enough computer tune you can get the smaller cc306 to pass.

That's good news. I'm going to try to pass this year with a 236/248 114 at 555/600 and accel dfi.

Don't have any sound clips of that 236/244 on 112 do you?! Should be a sweet cam!

The guy that tunned it for me is a local in my area named Tracey Scott. He did heavy engine repair on the corvette racing team for 15 years on LT1s and has been building motors scince he was 13. His website is www.ts-performance.com. Sorry I dont have any sound clips, I dont have a microphone or know how to get it on the computer otherwise I would. It sounds killer even going through a cat convertor ( which I just got my cutout today that I got to get welded up). The best bet is to find someone with a lot of experience with tunning computers.

It depends on the way your state/country does its inspection....if it is all just OBDII plug and play like Illinois you will pass as long as you have a good tune.....In fact without a tune I would have passed with the CC306, it didn't throw one code...I had O2 sims, and everything else was in place except the AIR pump...Which in the state of IL you can fail two non-critical tests of the 6 or so they do and it will still pass you.....so it will all differ from state to state

To pass for sure without a special tune anywhere, Ild say somthing along the line of the XE 224/230. I know for a fact that the hotcam and cc305 will pass. Thats for OBD1....OBD2, if you dont throw a code here in Ga you pass...no sniffer test.

I would like to know too!!

Was going to go with a Hotcam, Jet Hot LT's with emissions and cats on a custom y-pipe. But was thinking even a CC306?

Anyone have ideas?

Don't do the CC306 unless you have the heads to let it breathe!

im in the same boat. I am in the process of doing an LT1 swap in my 98 Camaro. I still have to pass the sniffer test. I was thinking a XE 224/230 with 112lsa should easily pass with tuning and be plenty large enough cam for stock heads.

I know some people pass with a CC306 but i would stay away from that if you want a big cam go with a Xe thanks to the steep lobes you will have less overlap and better emissions.
