Help please.....mysterious miss between 4500 - 5000
Help please.....mysterious miss between 4500 - 5000
I have a slight miss/hesitation problem when I put the car to the boards and let it climb in 3rd and 4th gear.....Sometimes it pulls hard till like 4500 then there is a slight hesitation for about 500 rpms then it goes away and continues to climb to 5000+..then there are other times when it does not do it at all. It only happens in 3rd and 4th gear...maybe 5th to though....but never in 1st or 2nd.
So I was thinking its either my coil or one of the plugs is fouled up or something. I just cleaned my maf and I just replaced my intake elbow(it was ripped). Also, I have an MSD coil and Moroso wires with about 20,000 kms on them......
What do you guys think??

If it usually occurs from idle when then engine is warm and you get a short backfiring just before shifts, then it's probably the coil wire or the coil itself. If you notice the headlights flicker or flash at night when the car stumbles, it's almost assured the coil and/or coil wire need replacement.

the opti has been replaced becuase it crapped out on me once all ready...so I dont think its the opti cause the car couldnt even get passed 4000 before...unless now its in early stages of getting shot. The thing is, it only happens sometimes....
would auto tap be able to tell me whats up?

Yeah it very well could be the opti. Mine was doing the same thing at wot at about 4500 rpm or so. It was doing that every now and then for about a year and i never fixed it. Then i finally installed my tnt kit. Couldn't wait to try it out on the street. Finally got my chance sprayed the 100 in second gear
and never got to third gear. Damn opti blew so hard i thought i blew the intake or something and the car just died. My car was towed 4 times last year
I think i need to get AAA
