I don't want to run more than 6,500 rpm. My engine's got 120k on it, so nothing too wild that will start breaking stuff.....

 

The "little" cam 210/224 is a 6000 RPM stick. Power peaks below that.

 

Well, if this is your only driver, and you have 120k on the clock, in my opinion you are gambling putting any cam in there.

Some people believe that all the reports of chewed up cam bearings are from dirty installs, and while that is correct for some of the cases, I have alot of buddies driving high mileage 5.0's who do cams like retarded apes, and they all live. Our cars on the other hand seem to have a higher rate of failed bearings after getting a cam, or anything that puts new power on old parts.

Also, by your name, sounds like this car might have seen the bottle before, which doesnt help the bearings out at all.

I am not saying if you do it you will fry your bearings, but I am telling you that before you do it, be prepared for that possiblity.

 

BlackLT1_Tx-I agree with you about the possibility of the bearings failing. However, I do have a bottle-fed T/A, but it is my 94. It is sitting in the garage waiting...If a bearing goes south in the WS6 I can drive it, and my dad owns a machine shop so I have access to all kinds of cool stuff....

Sounds like you have a good setup then, if I were you I'd go bigger then a hotcam or cc305. They are good cams, but just so mellow sounding and dont really hit like the larger cams IMO, and seems like most people who go that route end up wanting bigger in a short time. I am just looking out for you!

The paint job was a adventure, I think here in the next few months (when it warms up a little) I am probably going to paint it again, except this time I will go either electron blue or dodge viper blue.

CC306 and stock heads here, revving up to 6500rpm. Power and times in sig.

 

I would go with the 224/230. It packs midrange power and should keep you from reving over 6k really. It also should make some damn good power with heads.

 

I vote for the 224/230 also, XE grind gives you nice torque throughout and alot of guys are running 12.0X with the cam and stock heads. It would be my route, of course as long as you have LT's/CAI and a catback already.

Dont you love G/F's? Mine wants to get me N2O instead of a cam since a cam makes the car sound like "retard-mode"

I'm running the CC305, ran 12.62 on street tires through SLP 2OTL exhaust, Still has plenty left in it... Great cam for the street, nice rumble, great manners

 

Did we ever establish what tranny your using? Either way I would talk to LE or Cmotorsports.com about a custom cam. I believe most of them are all the same price. Mine was.

 

Its a 6 speed with 3.42 gears.

How much more are custom grind cams than shelf cams?
