bigger valves a good thing on an lt1?

hey, i was thinking that i may port my heads during the winter (i plan to practice on a set of junk heads and intake) and was wondering if bigger valves would help?
i plan on later doing a custom cam to match the flow numbers but...after i port, i will remain stock until i can get money for a cam (poor college boy)

i was reading david vizards book (good read btw) and it says that by going to a bigger valve, you lose chamber clearance
meaning that it can actually hurt you
would it be beneficial to go to a bigger valve in this case, or stick with the stock sized ones and do a 3angle (or more) valve job?

I would experiment with porting heads, but enlarging valve size and doing a good 3 angle job would prolly require more experience then 1 set of junk heads

i had LE port my head and went with 2.02/ 1.60 and my flow number are better then LE heads with smaller valves (like they should be) take if for what it for what it is worth. as a side note am glad folks know what LE head are instead having to talk about this local guy who does not charge enough to create good heads.

do you think it weakened the chamber though since he probably had to enlarge the chamber to accomodate the bigger valves to reduce shrouding (if i am saying this right)?
