Two days ago i found my car with the K&N CAI fallen off of it. It may have been off for at the most a week or two since that was the last time I looked under the hood. Anyhow that day I put it back on, it was getting late and I should have cleaned it and put it in the next day but didnt have the option (it was kinda dirty). So i just shook it out anyhow, tightend it on and figured it should be ok anyhow.
The next day driving to school i hit some traffic and my temperature skyrocketed! I don't know if it was directly related to the K&n coming off or me messing something up while putting it back in (knocking off the fan sensor).
Any ideas on what it might be?

 

I don't think those two things would be related. Mine filter has fallen off the CAI twice since I've had it. Both times I put it back on without cleaning it and it was fine. Also, when I re-installed it, I was really swinging it around in the lower well area trying to get it to grip the CAI tube and nothing ever happened to me. I'm not saying it couldn't have happened to you, but from my experiences, it seems unlikely.

 

K Just praying my engine internally is ok I'm hoping my tempsensor is gimped up or i knocked a fan wire loose or something simple like that. Otherwise i'm not going to be a happy camper =/

 

Great, my mechanic is 90% sure its the head gasket =/ Now what? I just had my head gasket done just over a year ago at GM (so now its out of warranty on the work done by 2ish weeks!!). I just had my tranny rebuilt in Feb, and did my brakes not 2 weeks ago! my pocketbook is REALLY going to hurt after this! I really don't want to sell the car.. any advice here on what i can do?
