Big cubic inches, shorty headers, who's got em?

I am going to put my 406 in my 89 T/A, I have long tubes on my my 88 and true duals. I am going with single exhaust due to the 89 is a much nicer car and I don't want to sacrifice ground clearance. I thought about going with the mufflex y pipe and their cat back. The thing is I would really like to lower the car. I know I can't have every thing, and I know I am going to loose some power. I am thinking about using SLP 1 3/4 shorty headers and a custom 2.5 or 3.in y pipe to either a 3.5 or 4in cat back. I know deadbird here in town makes some mean *** custom exhaust systems and I need to talk to him about it.

I don't know how much power i'd loose with 1 3/4 shortys, thats why I wanting a big y pipe to try to make up for the lack of collector length.

Thanks.

I don't know if a 383 would be considered as "big", but I run LPE 1 3/4" shorties with a Random Y-pipe and Borla cat-back...Car traps at 118 N/A on pump gas...

Going to dyno tomorrow or Monday with new set up being a bigger, but still small, Joe Overton cam with LPE heads freshened by E.B Porting. I'll post the results when I get them. I think I make plenty of power with shorties and I'm still emissions legal...

Re: Big cubic inches, shorty headers, who's got em?

Thanks...I usually average in the low 1.70s with an occasional 1.60...Just installed a Joe O. cam with the heads freshened by Joe's head porter Eric on my 10 year old LPE 383. If it performs anything like how it sounds it should be ridiculous. Goin to dyno tomorrow or Monday. I do see a 9" or 12 bolt in my future, though.

The Vig gave me a solid 5 tenths over the LPE 11" that I took out. I'm a huge fan of the purple converter...
