Bfgoodrich G-force KD's, any good?

I originally wanted to purchase a set of Goodyear eagle F1 GS-d3's for my WS6, size P275/40ZR-17. Unfortunately these tires are on national backorder and are unavailable. My next choice was firestone firehawk SZ50 Ep's. They seem like a good tire but from what I've heard Firestone changed the rubber compound to a harder one so these EP firehawks don't grip like the old ones, is that true? Tbyrne can get me a complete set of BfGoodrich Gforce KD's for around $780 plus I get a discount of $25 from ordering online. How well do these tires grip? How do they handle? Are they comparable to the goodyears on dry pavement? I don't drive much in the rain so wet traction isn't much of an issue. Please help me make my decision! Thanks

I've got KDW which I like. I've heard that the KD are as close to a real track tire as you can get, without actually being a track tire. I'm considering them myself for my next set, but I won't need them for about a year anyways. Probably not a lot of help but, . . .

So do you think they're worth it or should I just wait for Goodyear to get some eagle f1 gsd3's in stock? The goodyears are almost as expensive as the gforce kd's.

SZ50 EPs are good. I got a 2.092 60' on them. I'm sure they can probably muster a low 1.9xx 60'

I had a set of SZ-50's which I really liked; but I like the KD's better. They are the $hit. Spend the money; they're worth every penny. I have Goodyears on the new car but I like the BFG's better.

I've also read that the KD's are about as close to an all out race tire as you can get. I think they may wear quickly however.

$780. for a whole set of the TA-KD's? Someone had to make a mistake on that price...that's $195. per tire! If I remember correctly, I paid about $270. a piece for those tires a few years ago. Those are some of the best tires you can get

275/40-17 KDs are $232 per tire plus shipping today at TireRack.
That's about a grand installed (if you have a friend at the installer!) $780-$25 or $755? Are you sure they are not KDWs? ($179 per or $716 a set at the Rack)

Tirerack.com website does a pretty good job comparing the KD to other Ultraperformance tires:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...orce_kd_rd.jsp

Remember they are meant for DRY roads, unlike KDWs which are more all weather.

Treadwear rating is 200, so don't expect high mileage. I've accustomed myself to 20K max on tires and I run them past the wear bars.

Yea i have these tires mounted on the rear of my car on FIREHAWK wheels. 275/40/17. I would never pay the high prices for them cause i got a GREAT deal . My BEST 60' w them is 1.9 + a have a few other traction mods on my car. I do a have a 2700 stahl and 3:73's. But i can roast the crap out of these tires. I would like to think of them as the next closest tires to drag radials.

KD's are the best tire I have ever used - but it is a "summer" tire and a dry road tire.

I have a summer - nice day only vert so it's no problem but i would not get these for a daily driver - at least not up here in canada.

The price is correct. Tom at tbyrne gave me that price for a set of Gforce KD tires size p275/40zr-17. The weather here in the summer is usually pretty dry with temps in the high 70's to mid 90's. I don't drive much in the rain and the car is parked over the winter. Besides, I'm used to driving on eagle gsc's and the bfgoodrich tires can't be any worse than that! I'm just not sure if I should wait for the eagle f1 gs-d3's or if I should jump on the great tbyrne price for the KD's. I'm somewhat leaning towards the BFG tires.
