Better highway mileage with or without cutout?

I'm taking a 2000 mile road trip in the next couple weeks, gas mileage is definitely important. I've got Flowmaster exhaust on the 93 Z28, it's loud enough as it is through the city with the cut out off. But if I can save some gas with it off I'll take the hit on the highway. What do you guys think? I have a few mods on the car, all of which are in my sig.

yeah, maybe 2mpg at the most, but if you think it'll make a difference, try it on a tank, but I'm betting that you'll close it before you go to long from being to loud, but then again, maybe not. I'd try it.

I don't think it will really matter too much for long distance driving. Plus I all that drone would make you go def! lol

I can't take 5 minutes with it open on the freeway. The slight vibration gets to me. Not just the noise. Maybe with the electric cutout you can find a nice media.

Gas milage might be decent, until you idle on the side of the road for a few minutes after being pulled over -

Have a safe trip!!!

Speaking of being pulled over with the cutout, I just got pulled yesterday for it. Awesome.

I think I'll go with the cutout on for this trip.

Just as an update, the cutout didn't affect the mileage, but if it did I think I may have gotten better-than-average.

I'm surprised it didn't help with mileage - with that restrictive flowmaster on there the cutout is practically necessary to allow the car to breathe
