Which is Better?? CNC Ported TB or Holley,BBK,ASM???

I know the CNC ported Throttle body are cheaper but are they just as good or should I spend the extra buck on the name brands??? I like to know people experience with CNC ported if they had any problem. I saw a 54mm CNC TB for sale for cheap price. This will be going on my stroker motor.

Actually people have more problems with the aftermarkets idle issues sticking blades. You just have to make sure you use a reputable porter, just because most of them do good work doesn't mean there isn't some hack out there screwing them up.

I went with a BBK 58mm unit because it's cheaper, haven't had a problem with it since installed more than 5 yrs.

I dont want a TB that gonna be sticking, ebay got some ported TB for a cheap price and the refund you $40 back if you return ur stock to them. so its even cheaper.

Umm, your running a 398ci motor right? I think you need a larger throttle body than you can port a stocker to. Also people have issues with the lower quality BBK units more than anything. A AS&M, or Holley would work flawlessly.

stock, bolt-ons, or mild cam = stocker ported to 52mm
heads/cam, stroker = accel or as&m 58mm

Ebay is selling a 54mm and was thinking about getting it if not going with a 58mm if I find a good deal. I heard alot that those BBK always stick allot.

They stick 'cause the blades are jammed closed. Just turn the idle adjustment screw an 1/8 turn and it will stop.

Well, considering the fact that Tbyrne Motorsports is selling the 58mm Holley throttlebodies for $289.99 right now, I'd say that's the best deal. I have one on my motor that I bought when they were nearly twice that price. It has never stuck or had any problem what so ever (except for the nice dent it put in the wallet), and with a little mother's polish, it gleams like you wouldn't believe.

I have the Holley 52mm, no way i'd trade it for a ported stock piece, for performance or looks.

Re: Which is Better?? CNC Ported TB or Holley,BBK,ASM???

I have a new BBK 58 ,Had a new BBK 52 briefly. The 52 worked fine and the 58 did seem to slightly stick and make the idle a bit high when first put it on but after using it for a few weeks its working fine. That might be an idea on the 1/8 turn and a throttle return spring could also be a simple solution.Heck possibly even a bit of wd 40. Anyway its working fine now and while it don't look as pretty as a holley it is doing the job. That holley price is cheap though
and buddy has one and they do look sharp. He did some mods to his holley not sure if it needed it or he just wanted to. But think his holley is working fine too.
