best way to wire EWP?

as title states. I'd like to hear from the people that have had no problems because this will be my third try. I just got the car out of storage and right now my relay is clicking on (when the switched 12v engages) but no power is getting to the pump. It worked when i parked it, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I realized this about a mile down the road so Im back to wrapping the power wire directly to the battery post... again. The reliability of this setup is really starting to concern me, yet im not sure why im having all this trouble with a such a simple electrical layout. You can assume im a miserable failure at wiring i guess....

maybe i need a better relay? what kind of relays are people using - the one i got is just a basic peice from radio shack.

A standard 4-pole 12v relay will work fine (I'm also using one from Radio Shack). Just make sure your connections and grounds are good and there shouldn't be a problem. I am going to assume that is is wired properly to a 12v source.

You said you just took the car out of storage. Does the battery have plenty of juice?

it was dead last night, but its charged 100% now and when i drove it this morning.

right now i am thinking i have a bad relay because the pump should turn on when i touch the switched wire to power, and its not (its just clicking).

i honestly cant remember what my switched source is, its been a while. but either way its not working when i bypass that.

I ran mine on a direct power supply switch. Switch on, water on, simple and effective. Working good for, eh idono 5 years/60k?
