Best way to wire EWP?

Just been wondering what is the best way to wire-up my EWP. I've thought about just putting it on a switch but that would get tiresome. I think the best thing would be on the ignition switch... but then it would be running when the car is off...

Any ideas?

I have mine setup on a relay. The power and ground from the pump to two posts of the relay and a ground and power to other two posts of the relay.

The activation leg of the relay is run to the fuse box where I tapped into a circuit that is active when the car is turned on but not when the ignition is off.

Link to a schematic...this include the option of a switch if you chose to do that as well.

Not exactly but when I turn the key on it powers the pump.
If the key is in the off position the pump isn't running.
Basically just like the fuel pump. Key on...power. Key off...no power.

IMO the previously stated is the best way to wire it up. If you have your ign on then it powers the pump. So if you install a switch to your eletric fans, you can cool your engine without running it/having the car move. Which is great for when your car is sitting in the pits, inbetween runs.

and hogs, do a search for waterpump watchdog.

I have seen a Painless product advertised on Summit along with the Miezere EWP's.

I wouldn't worry too much about the pump failing(though of course a warning light is never a bad thing), as I've had mine for over three years and 54,000 miles without any hint of a problem. As others have said, simply wire it using a relay that is activated any time the key is in the "on" position.

well the waterpump watchdog isn't really a good way to determine if your electric water pump is bad or not. It just sets off an alarm/led when your pump isn't getting 12V. The best way is just to watch your temps.

I believe if you check on the impalass forums, a member over there was making a electric water pump warning system, but I don't remember the specifics of it.

The system from the impala forum uses a temp sensor installed in the passenger head.
I have it but I haven't gotten it wired up yet. It is a very complete kit.

I think somebody on this forum was going to wire in a buzzer where the light should be on this product.
