Best Way To Weld In Sub Frame Con.

I still haven't had my Kenny Brown Subfarme connectors installed. People have been telling me that you have to have the car on a drive on lift to weld them in, so there is weight on the chasis. I talked to one shop that had this kind of lift and they wanted 300-500 bucks. I talked to another shop who can do the work for 150-200, but they said they didn't have a drive on lift. They just put the car on jackstands. Will it make a difference if the car is on a lift with the weight on the tires opposed to using jackstands under the rearend and fornt lower A arms.

Anynody that has some good info please let me know, because I'm been dying to get these installed.

from what ive heard the car has to be sitting the way it will be on the street when its welded

it makes sense, if the chassis is bent slightly from jack stands and then u weld the SFCs on the chassis will be suck bent

I don't know what I'm going to do. I need to find someone that has a drive on lift that won't charge so much money.

i have a set of bmr still sitting in my garage waiting to go on
i also heard having thems stick welded instead of migged is also better.thing about stick welded is its hotter than mig and can be nasty if gas ignites.

have you looked at both generic and mom/pop muffler stores?

I'm really picky with works on my car because of past expierences. Do you think anyone can weld them in or is it something that takes expierence. Is there any special tricks needed to know to weld subframes in that muffler shops wouldn't know.

I jacked up my car and put all four wheels on cinder blocks...the car was up pretty high, the the suspension was still under load. Be careful when welding the dirver side front weld point. My uncle his the fuel line and nerly blew up my car...thank god for a fire extinguisher.

All that matters is that the suspension is loaded and it's level. I placed jackstands under the rear axle and front lower control arms when I welded mine in.

It's not the most comforting feeling being under a car supported by jackstands on movable parts, but I can't exactly afford a lift right now

Wet rags wrapped around fuel lines and an extinguisher close by is a must!

It's very rare but there have been a few casulties of careless welders Having a car go up in flames is easily avoided.

i dont know where that bull**** came from, but its just that; bull****. on my mustang and my z28 Dan Aos of wolfe racecraft installed my subframe connectors w/ the cars on jackstands and ive had absolutly no problems. whoever came up with that lie about putting the car on a driveup lift, obviously has a installer that didnt have a clue and was trying to blame the faulty install on something other then himself. people are probably going to argue with me, but www.wolferacecraft.com has a reputation second to none. if its good enough for dan and david, its good enough for me.

I think cinders can possibly disintegrate from the weight... might want to use wood instead

I called up this muffler shop that did the exhaust on my Charger and Dart. I thought the guy does great work, so I called him and he said he would weld them in no problem for 100.00.

WERD Im with this guy.. I had my BMR Boxed SUb Frames welded in along with my bmr trak pak for $75 Just a regular lift where they lift it by 4 points is fine dude.. None of this drive on crap, you guys are trippin

common sense would tell most people that you want the frame welded how the car sits on the ground. if its on jackstands, its gonna put pressure on the frame when you lower it, which is not good.
