You like the drop?
Cool. Yes I love the drop the car looks so much better lowered. The springs are great, the ride quality is the same or better than stock. I however replaced my shocks and struts at the same time. I think all cars look good lowered. Except my Jeep. ------> Brad

assuming his dad is a good porter, the money he saves in labor can be used for better castings and maybe even a 15* conversion.

its all aobut the bucks!

Yeah he will. My Dad had never been that great of a Dad to me, but he knows how to build a motor. Eveyone around Austin knows about his work. He just finished building a 1000+hp 2jz Supra motor. He already built my friends 740 hp SC Corvette engine. He does all the machining work for Protech now. He is really good at what he does. Oh and he has a flow bench. Not trying to brag or anything, I just know he is good at what he does for a living ---> Brad

Well, I think he is hesitant about making the car really fast. Probably cares about me or something...... So when I ask him what to do to make my car fast, he kind of BSs with me and tells me to see what others are doing for street cars. -Brad

Question Tame Cam and High lift heh?

the word LT4 comes to mind if you mean best in a tame way.

Lots of head, tame cam, high lift, full bolt ons and you should have no problem making above 400rwhp and barely loping.

My idea of "best" for a street car is as tame as humanly possible, a low reving as humantly possible, as reliable as humanly possible while still meeting my goals.

Id rather spend an extra $500-$700 to get it tame and lower reving.
I am as intested as Brad to hear what kind of set up Trey thinks would be the best humanly possible. My goals are similar or the same as Brad's and I want the same aspects you are speaking of. Not trying to pull a hijack but I just want to hear Trey's opinion. Sounds like your going in the right direction for Austin as far as reliablity since he doesnt want to start breaking anything. Especially on a daily driver. Thanks.

Just looking for a goal to start working towards, thanks.

Have your dad port/polish/3-angle valve job/mill your heads. The next most important thing is the cam choice. Good choices are:

Comp Cams (big)
cc306
XE 230/236

Comp Cams (medium)
XE 224/230
cc305

GM Cams
GM847 (big)
LT4 Hotcam (medium)

All of these can make 350RWHP and the big ones can make 400RWHP or over....

Also you will need long tube headers, Y-pipe or true duals, 1.6RR and springs to match the cam (Combonation Motorsports has good packages). Don't forget about a PCM reprogram, bigger injectors, and gaskets, ect.

with a good porting job and one of the big cams you'll be at 400rwhp. Don't forget lifters and pushrods. If you go with the 224/230 or 305 and ported heads you'll be around 380rwhp. Good luck

Are you worried about emmission? Cause I don't think a CC306 will pass emmission.

best to me is probobly an NA setup (cost reasons)

Combination motorsports stage III heads, a good 396 if applicable and needed, High lift, relativly short durration cam, long tubes and probobly a hooker catback and so forth. Thats just my idea of a good daily driver.
...and dont forget the dyno tune@!
