Best way to check for spark?

Since my cam install my car has not been running right. I replaced the opti because all indicators pointed to it being bad. What's the best way to check that spark is going from the opti to each plug?

Try one of these. You can get them or something similar at Autozone, Advance, and the like for about $10. You can test the coil, each lead off the opti, and the plug wires with one of these. These things are worth their weight in gold!

Just set it up, disable the fuel, and have someone crank it over while you monitor the spark. Just an FYI on these - if the spark is not steady pulsing (more like sporadic), that equates to a no spark condition.

Thanks. I never seen one of them before. Maybe it will shed some light on my engine woes.

The part stores also have another one where you can adjust the gaps for differnt style ingnition's from points all the way to HEI and you just screw the screw out for the higher output ignitions and look for a good blue spark
