Re: best way to add 50hp?

Thanks for the help guys! Think i will pay a big part of the loan off, then start doing some mods later down the road.

I dont see a WU8 code on the door sticker, i think someone just plastered SS logos on the car. The cost of the car and fixing the leaks cost me about $9800, whoever had the car before me, must have taken care of it, or let it sit in a garage a long time, if ya saw it you would think its never been out in the weather!

probably your more responsible thing to do. pay it off, then put more money into your parts instead of paying the bank interest fees.

i ended up waiting till i paid mine off and glad i did. i'm just glad i didnt know early on what i know now. haha, i wouldnt have wanted to wait.

Ion did a great job on my car. He sure did fix the temp issue in the staging lanes. Do you guys feel the airfoil is worth it?

There should be an SLP sticker on the door if it is an SS. Call SLP with ;your VIN and they will tell you if it is an SS.

I know, I'm debating little mods like that myself, I think I'm about out of things to do without opening up the engine or hurting the gas mileage.

I'm debating airfoil, underdrive pulley, etc.

Re: best way to add 50hp?

quickest and most inexpensive path to 50hp is nitrous hands down.

on the other hand, heads and cam works well too and gets you more than 50hp. However if you don't have the supporting cast as it were to support the heads and cam swap, you wouldn't reap the total benefit.

Re: best way to add 50hp?

It's debatable if the 160 thermostat does any good. Sure it keeps the engine cooler, but engines operate at an optimal temp, and I'm not sure 160 is right for the LT1. I've kept mine stock, but set the cooling fans to come on at just over 180. Works great.

The tune will help, but getting the right, reliable parts is a great option to getting the HP#'s you are looking for. The tune is not going to get you close to 50 HP. Maybe 10 rwhp from the tune. Once you start modding, it's hard to stop, so just make sure you take time and don't rush into a certain component just because it's cheap. Wait and buy the quality part.
