Best tuner for a basic bolt on LT1?

I know V6's...... but for V8's.... I'm still learning so don't mind me

My T/A needs a little bit more power so it's time for tuning.

Mods:
Long tube headers, 3 inch high flow cats, magnaflow cat back, 160 thermo, lt4 knock module, cold air kit, tb air foil, 1.6 roller rockers, mild port work on the heads

I've found:
madtuner $150 + shipping
pcmforless $175 + shipping
trifecta $175 + shipping

Can anyone give me pro's and cons about them?

I don't want any down time.... and don't want to spend extra money for a "core" which would be reimbursed eventually.... so Trifecta is ahead in my books as they mail a hand held tuner to download the new tune.

Comments? Thanks!

get ahold of Josh from JSperformance. Brian from PCMforless is in the area sometimes and can just do it there. or you can drive a short distance and do it.

I've had both PCM4Less and MadZ28(current) tunes on my car and gone to the track on both. Drive ability, at least in my case, is better with my MadZ28 tune.

PCM4Less got me a best of 12.72x @109.xx with a 1.84x 60'

MadZ28 got me a best of 12.42x @ 110.xx with a 1.72x 60'

In my eyes the two tunes are very similar and the difference in the track times could have very well just been from the difference in the 60' times. That difference came from me figuring out that you have to heat the crap out of M/T DR's compared to the Nitto DR's that I used to run.

I have had brian at pcm4less do my stuff. When you want to re tune or are having problems everything was always free(aside shipping).

I know they are all just as good as one another but Brian knows a thing or two about customer service.

So you're saying you saw a 30-37 rwhp difference just from changing tunes?

Were those done on the same dyno with approximately the same weather conditions and no other mods done?

Only change was the tune, and yes they were done on the same dyno with similar weather conditions... I live in Florida man we only have hot and hotter, lol.

If you look at the air:fuel on the PCM4Less it stays in the 11.5:1 area and on the MadZ28 it stays in the 12.7:1 area.

Ok. I new Brian's tunes were on the more conservative side as far as AFR. He does offer 6 months of free changes to the tune, but I never had the chance to dyno it with a wideband. If I go to another dyno, I'll probably just get a dyno tune for it. I'm still very surprised that there was that much of a difference.

How does MadZ28 tune in comparison to pcm4less? I noticed on the mad tuner site, it doesn't have a space for you to enter your cam specs and whatnot, unless I just haven't gone in far enough as I haven't paid for a tune yet.

Anybody know anything about Trifecta? I was thinking of going with them, since they offer a hand held to upload the tune. I use my car as a DD for work so I cant be without it for a couple of days. It's my only form of transportation.

Check out pcmforless.com's loaner program. That's the only one I would recommend. You don't need a dyno tune with just those mods.
