Best Street Head/Cam Package

This will be used on a pretty stock LT1 for a while until I can afford more, will be used with stock intake, injectors, mainfolds, throttle body, etc. Only mods are K&N FIPK and a 3 inch cat back with high flow cats. Also will have a custom ECM by madz28.

Looking at head porting reviews lately on here, I would say that Lloyd Elliot is the way to go, however, I'd also check http://www.advancedinduction.com

As for the cam, it all depends on what you're looking for. Driveability? Pass emissions? How high will you rev it? etc...

The "Good ole HotCam" my man. You can get the kit for 480.00 comes with springs and 1.6 rockers too. Good for the street.

I'd say get a set of heads done, and then get a couple of cam recommendations based on the flowing characteristics of the heads. That way, you know there's going to be a good match. You don't need a cam lifting to .600 if your heads drop off at .550.

Best IMO will depend on what your goals are. If you don't have the $ to spend right now on tuning, a pile of misc. parts, etc. then I'd wait until you've saved ~$3k for it. The power is in the topend, so taking your time, saving pennies & researching options is likely your best bet, b/c mediocre stuff is going to get you mediocre results... & the bad thing is it wont be much cheaper.

For some more perspective, you might want to dig up a post from last week that Dennis (i forget his SN) made regarding flow #'s. There's some good information there for sure, b/c everyone has flow numbers, but only a few have decent dyno #'s .

Good luck

To make so power I would: Go to L.E for the heads, hands down. the port job with vavles is 1200 or 1300 and then combintation motorsports has a cam package for 600-700 with the xe grinds. I would either go with the 224/230 or the 230/236 if you wanted to get closer to 400rwhp(w/bolt ons and lt's). I would really buy some used lt headers your going to need them bad. You can find some for 4-500. Look and ebay and the in the for sale section. If you dont do headers then buy a cutout. A dyno tune with also be the best way to go when everything is done.

Lloyd lives about an hour from me in Red Oak, Texas near Dallas. I can vouch for great work since I had a pair of fully ported LT1 heads in my hands and sold them in order to fund an engagement ring. The #'s were as follows:

.2 135/101
.3 188/136
.4 238/165
.5 265/184
.6 273/190

$1200 covered porting the heads, Ferrea 2.00/1.56 valves, Comp 987 springs, 10 degree retainers, locks, locators, seals, machining for seals and locators, milling, cleaning and assembly.

Do headers before or when you do the heads/cam package. I'm not even sure you would benefit from ported heads with a good exaust. Lloyd Elliot IMO is the way to go with porting your heads. Advanced Induction is making great power too. An XE grind by Comp is also a good choice IMO or a custom grind.
