best shocks and springs for comfortable ride

Any suggestions on a shock and spring combo that will give me a less rugged ride but not too squishy ride. I'm tired of my cd player skipping every song and hearing a bang over every bump. I do a lot of DC city driving and its killing my car.... I think 165,000 miles is kinda catching up as well.....

Thanks

I'd have to vote for Eibach pros and KYB AGX shocks.

Any ideas on prices and best place to find them?

Edit: Just did a little research and those look like they are a little out of my price range.... Anything a little less high performace. I'm not worried about being able to adjust them and such. Just basic but nice shocks, preferrably gas like you suggested....

If you want a smooth ride, it's more important to have springs that don't lower the car too much. when the suspension has more travel it will be softer on the ride. For you, I suggest 1LE springs and maybe some bilsteins. If you want to spend more money, get some koni kyb or qa1 adjustables.

Thanks for the reply. Its normal for shocks to seat higher when they get old right. My car seems to be a lot higher than it used to be. I'm also noticing a little swaying around corners that didn't used to be there. Sway bars and all are attached and good. I'm thinking its just time for shocks. Anyone running any deals on bilsteins that you know of?

I desperately need shocks and springs as well, but I dont want to lower my car at all, if thats possible. Do the 1le springs change the ride height at all? and if so how much?

Its very minimal. I think its just about perfect for our cars. I know I sound like a newb right now. But I'm a bit out of it. Trust me I've been around the site for awhile.... lol

I've seen them personally on a few cars and thats what I was planning to do. I already have clearance problems with stock ride height imagine a 1 and a 1/4 drop. Especially in the city

1LE springs have been known to raise the ride height. You can get a set of HD Bilsteins for ~$300. http://bimmerparts.com/
They ride firm, but nice.

Warning they may be too firm for Marines that are used to the soft and cushy life.

I have the Bilstein HD's on all 4 corners with stock springs. They did stiffen up the ride, but it's more controlled.

So if you want something softer, I would go with the stock decarbon shocks or something else. If you want better performance, get some Bilsteins. A great guy to talk to would be Sam at www.stranoparts.com

You could also go with the SLP springs and SLP revalved bilsteins. They ride smooth and do not lower the car. My friend has them on his 95 Z

All this talk about a softer ride and stock or higher ride height makes me wanna puke! Saturday evening I saw a lady driving an LS1 WS6 TA, and I swear I thought I was gonna get sea sick from looking at that thing, it sat so friggin high!

Wow, you're totally missing the point. Must be the fact that its so late at night. But the whole focus here is getting a softer ride while maintaining stock ride height or lower, not higher. The only reference to a higher ride height was by me when comparing my warn out shocks to new ones. No F-Body in history has ever needed to be made higher... They are plenty up there as it is.

My vote would be for Eibach prokit (1LE springs if you have to have them I guess),and revalved Bilstein HD's from Strano. Combo has worked wonders for all my problems - except a couple.
