Question Best parts to buy for the money????

As LT1 owners, What are your most power adding mods that really kick up the hp and tq other than N20 and forced induction. I as well as others could use some really good ideas that will boost hp. Thanx!

CAI, Cat back and headers are the easiest most beneficial mods for these cars. I Personally would buy them all used too makes it much cheaper. I have used SLP headers i got coated for 300 and a used borla i got for 275 both off of this site. If i would of bought them new it would of cost me 1200-1300 bucks.

Used parts are the way to go. I got K&N FIPK, Jet Hot coated SLP shorties & BBK 52mm TB for $600 combined.

What cam would be good to retain decent gas mileage and boost the hp.....(what could that put HP wise to my wheels)????

PS.. Would a hypertech power programer do much to work with my other mods and possibly with the cam???(whats the average rwhp gain i could ecpect to see with the mods below plus a hypertech programer, bored throttle body and a cam???

Before you ask us what parts you should buy, you need to ask yourself a couple questions.

How much money do you want to spend?
and
How fast do you want to go?

Once you figure that out it will help you determine what parts you should buy.

well i can use about $600. I just want to put my car near mid to low 13's and retain most gas mileage.(i already have holowed cats, flowmaster exhaust american sound, bored out throttle body, heads had the exhaust ports smoothed, head was plained to raise compression up .5 points, motor is a bored out 355, and i just had it rebuilt with the rotation assembly balanced, K&N airfilter) I wonder how much hp at the flywheels im making with just those parts??? Give me some ideas if your good with these motors Thanx, Brian

Headers should be the 1st thing on your list. Get then coated. SLP are good Hooker long tubes are better. Probably a +10-15hp difference. After this a cam would be next but that's expensive.

Purchase the Hot Cam kit. It can be had for under $500...it's a very popular and proven performer on this site. If you are mechanically inclined, you can install it yourself...pick up a Haynes manual for installation reference.

Jason Cromer has the Hotcam kit for $479 and I would definitely buy some headers.

Definately!! I take it you must have bought this car form someone right??? In order to have all those mods and not know what to get. Anyway in your sig. it says you have a K&N. Is that Cold Air or just the filter? I would go with the HC kit. But first you need headers. I'm thinking you already have them and might not know it. I don't see anyone getting ported and polished heads with without doing headers or a cam change.

Please let us know how long you've had this and how you came about his car.

I bought the car mint except the motor had a bad piston(cracked). $3200 only. I had it rebuilt and balanced plus .030 over. I think i got a good deal. You think i stand a chance against them hondas, ect or do i need more RWP?

If you don't stand a chance against those honda's then there was definatly something more then just a bad piston when you bought the car. Unless the Honda is a highly modded one then you should be okay. If you don't have headers then you need to get those first.
