i think the dynomax is louder. this is all i can think of to work with what you are talking about...do you have cats? get rid of them (even replacing with a high flow) and it will help a little.

For a muffler I like the Dynomax Ultraflow. If you want it loud get a Cutout or a Bullet muffler.

I went with Edelbrock and a Off-Road Pipe... get LOTS of compliments. I like the flow efficiency of the Edelbrock too!!!

If you want people to be able to hear you from 3 miles away, a cutout is the way to go. It's got a nice low rumble to it at idle, definitely.

What kind of Flowmaster mufflers are you guys buying to say that it is too quiet? I've been running a Flowmaster on my car for years, and people always tell me how awesome my car sounds...they say they always know when I'm coming!

I've always wondered this too, but one thing I've learned about the Flowmaster mufflers or cat-backs for our 4th gens is that the kind of tips you use determine how loud the system will be. For instance, the cars with the those small ugly turndown tips seem kinda quiet while the ones with the stock-style Z/28 or 3"+ slash-cut style tips are quite a bit louder. I mean, I've heard some very loud LT1's with just the Flowmaster exhaust and nothing else...

If your Flowmaster isn't loud enough, just get a cheap $35 cutout for your I-pipe. For those who just want to be "loud," it will do the trick just fine.

I got rid of the oval WS6 tips, and I'm using the quad tips that are used on the regular Trans-Ams, I like the looks of these better. Maybe the tips do contribute to the different sounds that everyone else is getting. All I know is that my car sounds BAD!

I have stock manifolds,a gutted cat and a Flowmaster with stock tips and it sounds great!
You can hear it at idle and just driving down the street it rumbles.
And at high RPM it sounds like every other F-body with a Flowmaster-----LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey TMD! How was Vegas? Anyways, I installed the Off-Road Pipe again today. If you thought it ran before, there is big difference in 2nd/3rd gear. And it sounds mean! So, if you thought it was loud when we were doing 2nd gear chirps, you should hear it again. My dad says it sounds like 4 Harleys in unison... music to my ears...

hmm.. loud? I run a dual 3" exhaust with an H.. a resonator in one pipe the other one is straight through.. no cats. It's loud.. hear you from 3 miles away loud but suprisingly quiet at idle and pretty tame below 2,000 rpms but when you get on it.. they move outta your way

So.. without changing your exhaust around completely.. I'd recomend a cutout as I'm sure it will be quite loud also.

Good point... I'll add a bit of detail. I've got headers and a cat-back. Edelbrock Muffler. The Off Road Pipe takes place of the cat. There is also a Dynatech Vortech Insert Cone in the ORP... this mellows the pulses at the collector reducing the decibels a little. Keeps it deep and smooth...
