i'm going to get a cam for my car. i have a 97 Z28
mods are
hurst shifter, throttle body bypass, K&N filter, 160 stat, borla exhaust, dyno tuning, air foil,

i'm going to for sure get jet hott long tube headers and y-pipe, ss air box, gears, tires.

now about the cam...
i'm probably not going to have any head work done. i've heard about some good numbers from the lt4 hot cam kit and lt4 extreme duty timing set. w/ the hot cam kit, u get the cam, springs,and roller rockers, and also the lt4 timing set. i've heard thats kind of a small cam though. my friend put one in his ta and he said he wants bigger. my car is still an everyday driver, so i need a cam to suit everyday driving, and stock heads.

the hotcam kit and timing set it about 750$ for everything, except gaskets. i've heard about alot of people talking about the comp cam 305, or 306?,,what are those? any links?
with those cams, what do you HAVE to get besides just the cam? roller rockers, and springs? i kind of want it to lope and sound real healthy. what cam suggestions would you guys have? i want the best numbers possible, but u can't really beat the price on the hotcam kit.

 

You're right, you can't beat the price on the Hotcam kit. For a street driver, the Hotcam is a good cam. The CC305 will yield nearly the same results as the hotcam, since their specs are almost the same. Do you have emissions to worry about? If so, then you're pretty much stuck with duration like the Hotcam or CC305. TPIS and Lingenfelter also have emissions-friendly cams, but they cost more.

The CC306 is not an emissions-friendly cam. Good luck with your choices.
