Exclamation Best Induction/Air Filter Set Up

I have a 94 25th Anniversary Trans Am. I want to replace the stock air induction set up. I am stuck between the K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit and the SLP Cold-Air Induction Package. Which one is better, or are neither of them good?

Moroso. I think the SLP is a PITA to remove and clean. The K&N just doesn't look like it would flow as freely.

All CAI offer the same power gains, none will flow better then others, go for whichever one you think looks best is all. I like the look of the SLP the best.

Yeah the gains are similar for all. Basically 17-20HP is what they all claim. SLP looks the best. Plus you can polish it, paint it whatever. It's not as flexible since it's steel but I still prefer it. It is a matter of preference. And the SLP does use K&N filters anyway. I would take Moroso over the K&N since it's cheaper than all. And of course the SLP would be first.

yea i mean i love the look of the SLP, but if i have to dis-mantle the whole thing every time i need to clean the filters, then i dunno. Only for that reason I will probally go w/the K&N, but im not 100% sure yet.

Re: Best Induction/Air Filter Set Up

as long as the SLP filters arent that much of a pain, id rather go w/the SLP than the K&N. i just dont want to spend an hour every time I have to remove the filters to clean them, thats all. i mean the SLP looks awesome! im also getting a new intake elbow and a airfoil for the throttlebody. I was looking at aa new MAF, but i have heard mixed things about them, i dont have the money for it now anyways.

I have it too and I wish it would take 2 mins. It's not a hard process but to me it seems lengthy.

I have to lift the car

Semi remove the Airdam.

Remove the splash guards (plastic underneath the car)

Then remove the filters since they don't fit through the hole in the engine compartment. Which is kinda awkward to get to the clamps that loosen them, even if you left them pointing in a "smart" position since the last time.

And if you want to clean the pipes themselves, you of course have to disconnect them from the maf.

I honestly don't see how this process can only take 2 mins. And yes, you can get water in there if you drive through puddles like a mad cow into them. Just be a little careful.
