Best Gaskets?

I am going to have to remove the head on my 95 Z28 to extract a couple broken exhaust bolts. Couple questions.

Are there any little tricks or snags on these engines that I should watch out for?

and

What brand of gaskets would be recommmended for the intake and head, and where is the best place to get them?

Thanks in advance.

How do you define "best"?

I would recommend something thinner than stock or Felpro.

Victor Rienz has a nice .026 worth some compression seeing as stock is .049 and Felpro is .039.

Felpro intake gasket kit is nicely priced and complete.

i would use a factory gm gasket, i think the impala gasket is .029 which like stated is worth some compression over the stocker

Mr. Gasket sells a pair of Multi-Layered Steel gaskets with a compressed thickness of .026. They look pretty good and I ordered me a set. I'll let you know. Summit sells them by the pair.

The Mr. Gaskets doubled in price at Summit because of packaging QC issues costing them a LOT of free replacements. The Victor Rienz I recommended are the same gasket at a much lower price and without any packaging hassles. PN 5898 I paid $22 apiece at NAPA

If your just replacing the Headgaskets without and resurfacing the LT4 gaskets a good choice

For a new shortblock/ heads package I like the Cometic MLS' gaskets. I've been using them for a while and they havent failed me yet(although other stuff has)

I would go with the felpro and put on them some "hylomar" spray gasketglue.

i would avoid this, i was always told to never put anything on a headgasket. maybe something has changed since then and i am sure someone will correct me

Yes, I know that head gaskets don't need/never put any extra glue or RTV, but the hylomar don't do any harm to the head gasket it only tightens and ensures better the seam, but you don't have to use it if you don't wanna
