Which is the best exhaust system?
Re: Which is the best exhaust system?
I was curious about this as well, the only source I can find sounds is http://www.ls1sounds.com/ but any other sites with sound clips or opinions would be nice.
Re: Which is the best exhaust system?
Its mostly opinion id listen to some of them on ls1sounds.com, keep in mind that a lot of the cars on there are heavily modified w/ cams, no cats, headers, cutouts, etc.
I have corsa and im very pleased but its expensive. After that I like Gmmg, borla, loudmouth, hooker the best.

Re: Which is the best exhaust system?
For street, I like the sound of the Borla catback with the appearance of Borla dual Intercooled tips or the sound of a Hooker Catback with the appearance of dual slash chrome tips. Dual tips are my favorite as you can see.
For Strip, I like the idea of custom exhaust work with "true" dual that uses an X-pipe, maybe throw in Borla tubes but clearance is an issue. If I had to get rid of my Flowmaster...I'd do a Hooker... catback that is.

Re: Which is the best exhaust system?
personally i like the true duals all the way out the back with dynomax bullet mufflers... thats IF you can find a shop that will do it well and do it right, mine did the pipes very well, but im having issues with them right now because ive taken it back 3 times to get the SAME leak fixed... and theirs a rattle i knew i had but didnt relize it was doing it everytime i revved it until i heard another car with the same setup -_- pipes bang against the heatshield over the axle everytime i left off after a rev (other guy had turndowns before the axle) so hopefully i can get em to take care of that too.. but if you get that setup done right it sounds nice. mine isnt too loud cruisin or idling, but i still have the stock manifolds with no cats... itld be rediculous with headers or dumped before the axle as far as inside noise i think.. anyways gl pickin one out, it takes awhile to find the one thats right for you!
Re: Which is the best exhaust system?
Now I know they aren't very popular but my Z already had Flow Masters and I honestly am quite happy with them. It still has a mild look to it but idle and power both sound surprisingly well. As for the C5 we set it up with a set from Corsa and I am honestly not a huge fan of the idle but it goes from mild to wild after a small dash of acceleration, plus the look is very clean and nice.
Re: Which is the best exhaust system?
I just got done installing a spintech cat-back and it sounds awesome!!! Suppose to perform well, but the sound was EXACTLY what I was looking for! My car is mostly stock w/ a few bolt-on's. Oh yeah its a 94 Z28.

Re: Which is the best exhaust system?
I had a flowmaster setup which sounded just like an open y-pipe but quieter, just very mean and raw. The corsa sounds more sporty than nascar agressive. The borola sounds OK IMO, as does the LM. They are my two least favorites though. My two favorates are the GMMG exhaust, or true duals with X-pipe and bullet mufflers(im putting on GMMG style mufflers). The true duals will outflow any of the cat-back systems and will generally be much louder. I still preffer true duals.
Re: Which is the best exhaust system?
get a cut-out, When I got my Random tech cat back it sounded great but later on down the road I wanted a more agresive sound so I got the cut-out and I love it. People always complement me on the sound. I think you should get a cut-out and some new tips. But if you need a cat back the best and most affordable is the Random Technology cat back, it has a streight through design and has no restriction such as chambers
